Plagiarism Check

JATRA (Jurnal Teknologi dan Riset Terapan) is committed to maintaining academic integrity and publishing original scientific work. Plagiarism, including the use of others' ideas, text, data, or research findings without proper acknowledgment, is considered a serious violation of publication ethics.

1. Plagiarism Screening

All submitted manuscripts are subject to similarity screening using iThenticate. The editorial team evaluates the similarity report to identify potential plagiarism, inappropriate text reuse, and overlap with previously published works.

The similarity score is not the sole basis for determining plagiarism. Each report is assessed by the editors based on the nature, source, and context of the similarities found.

2. Types of Plagiarism

JATRA does not accept the following practices:

  • Direct plagiarism: Copying text or ideas without proper acknowledgment.
  • Paraphrasing plagiarism: Using another author's ideas without appropriate citation.
  • Self-plagiarism: Reusing substantial portions of previously published work without proper acknowledgment or disclosure.
  • Duplicate publication: Submitting or publishing substantially the same work in more than one publication without appropriate disclosure.

Authors must properly cite all sources and ensure that reused material complies with academic and copyright requirements.

3. Similarity Assessment

The editorial team reviews iThenticate reports on a case-by-case basis. Properly cited quotations, references, standard technical expressions, and other legitimate similarities are considered in context.

A high similarity score may require clarification or revision, while substantial unattributed copying may constitute plagiarism even when the overall score is low.

4. Editorial Actions

If potential plagiarism is identified, the editorial team may request clarification or revision, reject the manuscript, or take other appropriate action depending on the severity of the case.

If plagiarism is discovered after publication, JATRA will investigate the matter and may issue a correction or retract the article when warranted.

5. Author Responsibility

Authors are responsible for ensuring that their manuscripts are original, properly cited, and free from plagiarism. By submitting a manuscript to JATRA, authors confirm that their work complies with publication ethics requirements.

Suspected cases of plagiarism will be handled in accordance with JATRA's publication ethics procedures and relevant guidance from the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
